STWDM 20 - Living Without Burdens
Day 20 Message: We think so often that we are helpless, but we’re not. We always have the power of our minds… Claim and consciously use your power. - Louise L. Hay
O: Often what looks like a burden or a dark patch is actually the universe conspiring to point us in a new direction. When you can see obstacles for what they are and course-correct to a new path, you never lose faith that Light with a capital L, is really trying to help guide you to your highest purpose. That, of course, is where we all want to go. Another favorite bible verse of mine is ‘Lord lead me to the rock that is higher than I’. So, by paying attention and letting our true self emerge, we always find the path to the rock that is higher, to positive transformation.
Choose to live your life free of the burdens and darkness and heaviness that weigh you down. And like magic, miracles begin to appear, blessings reveal themselves, opportunities show up. Everything you’ve ever done and all you’re meant to do comes together in harmony with who you are. You get to sing the song you’re meant to sing – in the perfect key – of your life. You get to feel the truest expression of yourself. You embody lightness and you’re free. How beautiful is that.
D: When you become lighter in mind, body and spirit, life looks different. We’ve been adding positive themes to your story which unfold every day. They allow you to consciously shed the weight you are carrying in any part of your life. The emergence of the true self always leads to positive changes because the shift away from the limited ego personality expands your awareness. How does this actually feel? Let’s address that very natural question. The specifics will be different for each person. One may notice a lighter mood or a increased self-confidence. Another may be free of cravings and feel freed up from old habits. Yet we can say that one important thing happens to everyone as the weight is shed. Life flows more easily because we are more at peace within our self. This feeling of ease tells us we’re on the right track in shedding the weight, and discovering our lightness of being. Holding on extra weight forces us into a conflict with ourself through a sense of failure and lack. Feelings arise that say, ‘I can’t help it’. ‘This is how I have to be.’
When you look at yourself physically, mentally or emotionally, and you don’t like what you see, a piece of the Self assumes the role of judge and sends punishing thoughts. But any piece of the Self that assumes a separate role is an illusion. There is only You. One whole Self. Not a collection of fragmented characters. This illusion, which is borne of separation, begins to wane as you meditate and begin to experience life with joy and self-regard. In our meditations there are no limits, demands, negative feelings or self-judgement. In the meditative state, things are very simple. You experience yourself as a peaceful open space. That state is actually the foundation of your whole existence, your Being. From it comes every thought, word and action. Therefore simple as it is, the open state of the mind gives you access to any possibility. When you truly know this and it has sunk in, being without self-judgement is the most natural thing in the world.
Journal Ideas: 1) Self-judgment keeps the weight on, whether it is physical, mental, or spiritual. Focus on how you judge yourself, and detail the ways you do this. For example, you might blame yourself when bad things happen or feel that you lack the positive traits other people have. 2) Taking each item of self-judgment, pretend you are your best friend or loved family member. For each item, write down what this person would say about it. 3) Now that you have seen both sides of the coin, which viewpoint seems right: the viewpoint of your self-judgment or the viewpoint of someone who loves you?
