STWDM 8 - Making LIghtness the New You

Day 8 Message:  Renewal requires opening yourself up to new ways of thinking and feeling.
Deborah Day

The burdens we carry around with us have become part of our attitudes, habits, beliefs, and behaviors, but they are not permanent. Habits are the outcome of old decisions and they can be changed only through new decisions and choices.

O:  Shedding heaviness and weight physically, emotionally or spiritually requires a fusion of our intention, our beliefs, and ultimately the choices that we make for ourselves.  And as we embrace our true self and trust the authentic inner wisdom that each of us has, we get to set ourselves on the path to lasting lightness.  Oh what a space and what a feeling!  We begin embracing our true selves by doing exactly what we’re doing together now – meditating, going deeper, being the space of mindfulness and you will see that as you become more mindful, every moment of warmth and kindness, every piece of beauty, creativity and wholeness that you experience comes to you in a richer and more vibrant way.  And that richness can replace those old burdens because the true self is just waiting for us to take it all in and be fulfilled, as we were created to be.  I believe that.  I know inside myself that this is the truth.

D:  The guiding words for this week are restoration, healing and recovery. You can become your body’s ally in all of these processes which are going on all the time.  What is important is how to accelerate healing and recovery so that you are restoring yourself much faster than potential damage or depletion is occurring. By staying ahead of the curve, you restore the lightness that belongs to the real you – your true self.

Your mind and your body are dynamically connected. Your cells feel your thoughts and processes them chemically while your mind is aware of how your body is doing.  But this tells us is that no weight is dead weight.  The burdens we carry around with us have become part of our attitudes, habits, beliefs and behaviors.  You may have heard it said that the issues are in the tissues.  We keep them lodged there through habits that are traceable to old choices and can now be  reversed by bringing them into the light of awareness.

Three journal ideas:  1) Write down the ways in which you glimpsed your true self today, through moments of beauty, truth, creativity, and bliss. Include how these moments made you feel. Remind yourself that this is a reality that is always yours.  2)  Think about the moments today when you had to struggle and use effort. Now describe how these moments of struggle made you feel.   3)  How could you remove some everyday burdens you are carrying?
